49ers' Jalen Hurd (back) involved in pass catching sessions
San Francisco 49ers' wide receiver Jalen Hurd is taking part in informal pass catching sessions with Jimmy Garoppolo, according to The Athletic's Matt Barrows.
What It Means:
Hurd was selected by the 49ers with the 67th overall pick in the 2019 NFL Draft, and made an impact in the preseason, catching 3 passes for 31 yards and 2 touchdowns. Unfortunately, he suffered a hairline fracture in his back and was placed on IR in October, forcing him to miss his entire rookie season. The 24-year-old's participation in informal pass catching sessions is a good sign as he looks to put his missed season behind him and make an impact in 2020.
Hurd is the WR98 in numberFire's preseason fantasy rankings. Our models project him for 43.7 targets, 25.8 receptions, 301.3 yards, and 2.2 touchdowns.
