Justin Jefferson expected to be Vikings' Week 1 starter
Minnesota Vikings first-round rookie wide receiver Justin Jefferson is expected to be a Week 1 starter, writes Andrew Krammer of the Star Tribune.
Jefferson shouldn't have any difficulty beating out Tajae Sharpe and anyone else on the depth chart for the Vikings' second receiver job behind Adam Thielen. Vikings offensive coordinator Gary Kubiak said earlier this week that Jefferson will play inside the slot "quite a bit," so the rookie is set up for multiple roles right away. Jefferson ran 575 of his 583 total routes from the slot in 2019 during LSU's National Championship run. He led the nation with 109 slot receptions and 1,518 slot receiving yards. Jefferson also paced the country with 37 explosive plays of 15 or more yards from the inside and had the second-most missed tackles forced from the slot (24).
Jefferson is the WR50 in numberFire's preseason fantasy rankings. Our models project him for 79.3 targets, 47.7 receptions, 682.7 yards, and 4.3 touchdowns.
