Trent Williams reportedly can't be tagged by 49ers in 2021
The San Francisco 49ers are unable to franchise tag offensive lineman Trent Williams in 2021, reports Field Yates of ESPN.
There's a clause in Williams' contract that prevents him from being tagged. The 49ers and Williams are both still committed to eventually working out a long-term deal. Williams turns 31 next month.
Williams was 13th in pass blocking and 20th overall on Pro Football Focus in 2018 out of 64 tackles with at least 500 snaps. He's received a grade of at least 75.0 in both categories every year since his rookie season.
