Lions back D'Andre Swift still uncertain of his role on offense
Detroit Lions running back D'Andre Swift still does not know what his role will be for the 2020 season.
'I can't even give you my role,' he told Evan Petzold of the Detroit Free Press. It's mildly concerning that the coaching staff hasn't clarified things for the rookie, but the real takeaway here is that Swift will be in a full-blown competition with teammate Kerryon Johnson for a job this season.
Swift was never a workhorse at the college level (whereas Johnson was), but he was super-productive and efficient playing behind Georgia's elite offensive line. The team has expressed concern over Johnson's ability to stay healthy, and it looks like things are trending towards a split backfield. Swift is currently projected to narrowly lead the backfield with 181.28 carries for 770.89 yards and 4.16 scores.
