Clyde Edwards-Helaire reportedly agrees with Chiefs
The Kansas City Chiefs and first-round rookie running back Clyde Edwards-Helaire have reached a verbal agreement on a four-year rookie contract, reports Terez A. Paylor of Yahoo Sports.
Edwards-Helaire will likely open the season splitting work with Damien Williams but he has the potential to take over as the Chiefs' lead back by the end of the year. There's also a fair share of production to replace, as the offseason departures of LeSean McCoy and Spencer Ware leave behind a combined 118 carries, 33 receptions, and 5 touchdowns. In his final season at LSU, Edwards-Helaire totaled 1,414 rushing yards (6.6 yards per carry) and 16 touchdowns on the ground with 55 catches, 453 yards (8.2 yards per catch), and 1 touchdown through the air.
CEH is the RB21 in numberFire's preseason fantasy rankings. Our models project the rookie for 183.0 carries, 785.4 rushing yards, 49.0 receptions (65.4 targets), 381.6 receiving yards, and 8.9 touchdowns. Williams finished with -0.04 Rushing Net Expected Points (NEP) per carry last season, below the league average of -0.01.
