Rapoport: Chiefs' Damien Williams opts out of 2020 season
Kansas City Chiefs running back Damien Williams has opted out of the 2020 NFL season due to the COVID-19 pandemic, according to NFL Network's Ian Rapoport.
Williams started in the backfield for the Chiefs' Super Bowl-winning team, but this April, they drafted Clyde Edwards-Helaire out of Louisiana State University to be the presumptive top option of the future at running back. Despite this acquisition, Williams was still expected to be a strong producer going into the 2020 campaign, but that evidently will not come to pass. Darwin Thompson and Darrel Williams should be the biggest beneficiaries of this news.
Our models had projected Williams for 605.72 rushing yards on 142.25 attempts with 5.48 touchdowns. They also had him for 22.73 catches for 172.67 yards and 1.55 scores.
