Eagles eager to let Miles Sanders loose

Philadelphia Eagles running back Miles Sanders is expected to play a feature role this season, per Eagles running backs coach Duce Staley.

What It Means:

“You put him in and you let him go,” Staley said. “I don’t think you have to be careful with him. He is one of those guys where it is hard to get a hit on him. You have to careful with the guys that can’t make people miss. So if you put a big workload on those type of guys, this is a violent league,” Staley said. “Injuries we know can happen at anytime, but if you got a guy that can make people miss and is kind of special like Miles, the injury percentage goes down. I think he can go out there and handle that part of it. He showed last year, he flashed last year.” The Eagles have reportedly been interested in adding a veteran back this offseason, but no moves have been made so far. Sanders averaged 14.1 carries per game from Weeks 9-17 last season after only seeing 8.3 rushes over the first half of the year. He averaged 94.9 yards from scrimmage per game with 4 touchdowns in that span. Sanders should see something similar to that second-half workload over the full 2020 campaign. As a rookie, Sanders' 5.8 yards per touch was sixth-most among running backs with at least 6.25 touches per game.

numberFire's models project Sanders for 260.4 carries, 1,156.7 rushing yards, 44.1 receptions (59.5 targets), 363.1 yards, and 10.9 touchdowns this season. He's the RB9 in our preseason fantasy rankings.
