Steelers' Anthony McFarland inactive Monday
The Pittsburgh Steelers listed Anthony McFarland as inactive for Monday night's game against the New York Giants.
McFarland drew some hype as a fourth-round pick in the 2020 NFL Draft, but his potential for a significant role diminished over the course of the offseason with James Conner re-establishing himself as the team's workhorse back and Benny Snell snatching the backup job. Curiously, Jaylen Samuels was listed as active despite speculation that he might not make the team this summer.
McFarland will likely need injuries to the backs in front of him on the depth chart before he can become a relevant player for fantasy football this season, but he did break 1,000 rushing yards in his freshman season at Maryland and offers elite speed at the position (his 4.44-second 40-yard dash ranked in the 91st-percentile).
