Panthers' Christian McCaffrey reportedly expected to miss "multiple weeks" with ankle injury
Carolina Panthers running back Christian McCaffrey (ankle) is expected to miss "multiple weeks," reports ESPN's Adam Schefter.
McCaffrey injured his ankle during the Panthers' Week 2 loss to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers on Sunday. Mike Davis stepped in as McCaffrey's replacement and hauled in 8 catches on 8 targets for 74 yards. Trenton Cannon could also be involved, but Davis is expected to be the Panthers' main back in Week 3 against the Los Angeles Chargers.
McCaffrey scored 22.8 FanDuel points with 59 rushing yards, 29 receiving yards, 4 catches (5 targets), and 2 touchdowns in Week 2. The Panthers will play a Chargers defense in Week 3 that currently ranks 14th against the run, per numberFire's advanced metrics.
