Buccaneers' Rob Gronkowski: "I'm a blocking tight end. I came here to block"

Tampa Bay Buccaneers tight end Rob Gronkowski told reporters on Friday that he's "a blocking tight end. I came here to block, baby".

What It Means:

Gronkowski also added that the four targets he's seen through two games thus far were four more than he thought he was going to get. It's a drastic departure from his role with the New England Patriots in the past, but Gronkowski has always been an excellent blocker. He also added that game plans change week to week, and he's going to "give it his all" in whatever aspect of the game he's involved in. Bruce Arians told reporters earlier in the week that "Gronk's playing great, run blocking in the fourth quarter, so I'm not concerned with his pass catches or his targets". Gronk and the Buccaneers face a Denver Broncos defense in Week 3 that is ranked 22nd against tight ends in numberFire's advanced stats.

Gronkowski's Week 3 projection includes 1.6 receptions (2.6 targets) for 18.8 yards, 0.19 touchdowns, and 3.8 FanDuel points. His salary is $5,000.
