Bears place Tarik Cohen (ACL tear) on season-ending IR

The Chicago Bears will place running back Tarik Cohen on season-ending injured reserve due to a torn ACL, head coach Matt Nagy confirmed.

What It Means:

Cohen rushed 2 times for 21 yards and caught 3 passes on 6 targets for 20 yards against the Atlanta Falcons on Sunday before suffering the injury. To this point, Cohen has never missed a game in his career. Running backs coach Charles London indicated that both Cordarrelle Patterson and Ryan Nall will be used behind David Montgomery to help make up for Cohen's absence. Cohen averaged 7.67 opportunities in the first three games. The Bears will face the Indianapolis Colts in Week 4.

Patterson has been less efficient (0.11 Rushing Net Expected Points) than Cohen (0.20) but more efficient than Montgomery (0.04) on a per-carry basis this season. Montgoery has added the most Reception Net Expected Points per target among all running backs with more than 7 targets this season.
