Jets reportedly trying to trade Le'Veon Bell

The New York Jets are trying to trade running back Le'Veon Bell, reports Manish Mehta of the New York Daily News.

What It Means:

Bell rushed 13 times for 60 yards this past Sunday in his return from the injured list, but he left a lot of yards on the field and was only targeted once in the passing game. The Jets are unlikely to garner much interest for the 28-year-old back unless they incentivize teams with a draft pick. Bell would likely play a smaller role in a different offense, but his departure would open up playing time for Josh Adams and La'Mical Perine while leaving the starting job to Frank Gore. The Jets will face the Miami Dolphins in Week 6.

Bell is averaging 3.27 yards in 17 games since signing with the Jets in 2019, worst in the league among the 29 players with 200-plus carries since the start of last season. He's taking away a team-worst -0.27 Rushing Net Expected Points per carry this season, compared to -0.15 for Gore.
