Christian McCaffrey (shoulder) not expected to play for Panthers Week 12
Carolina Panthers running back Christian McCaffrey (shoulder) is not expected to play Week 12 against the Minnesota Vikings on Sunday, per head coach Matt Rhule.
McCaffrey was able to practice on a limited basis Wednesday but he still hasn't been cleared for contact. He will likely be held out through the Panthers' bye week and then return Week 14 against the Denver Broncos. Mike Davis will handle lead back duties again on Sunday against the Vikings, but his role has been somewhat diminished by Curtis Samuel and Rodney Smith becoming more involved.
Davis is the RB9 in numberFire's Week 12 fantasy rankings and he has a salary of $7,200 on FanDuel's main slate. He hasn't had more than 24 combined opportunities since Week 5, Davis' third game as the Panthers' starter in place of CMC. The Vikings' rush defense is 20th in numberFire's efficiency rankings.
