Vikings' Alexander Mattison undergoes appendectomy, could miss more than just Week 13
Minnesota Vikings running back Alexander Mattison had a successful appendectomy, according to NFL Network's Tom Pelissero.
Mattison was surprisingly ruled out for the team's Week 13 game against the Jacksonville Jaguars for what was called an illness, but now we know the full story. Cleveland Browns tight end Austin Hooper had his own appendectomy last month, and that caused him to miss a pair of contests. If Mattison is on the same timetable, his status for Weeks 14 and 15 could be in danger. Expect Mike Boone to fill Mattison's role as the No. 2 option behind Dalvin Cook.
The Jaguars rank 30th in the NFL in adjusted net expected points allowed per run play.
