49ers' Jimmy Garoppolo (ankle) unlikely to play again in 2020
San Francisco 49ers quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo (ankle) is unlikely to play again in 2020.
Garoppolo has been recovering from a tricky high ankle sprain, and with the 49ers' playoff hopes diminishing by the week, it would make sense for the team to shut their starting quarterback down for the rest of the season and to start looking forwards to 2021.
With Garoppolo sidelined, Nick Mullens has taken over as the 49ers' starter. Mullens has been acceptable in the 49ers' quarterback-friendly offense, averaging a mediocre 6.12 adjusted yards per attempt over the team's past 3 games despite the team's massive accumulation of injuries. This week he'll take on the Dallas Cowboys, who have been one of the league's worst defense. Our models project Mullens, who has a $6,800 salary on FanDuel this week, to score 16.5 fantasy points.
