Bears' Cordarrelle Patterson reportedly avoids major knee injury
Chicago Bears running back Cordarrelle Patterson avoided a serious knee injury in Sunday's Week 15 win over the Minnesota Vikings, reports Tom Pelissero of NFL Network.
Patterson exited with a knee injury in the fourth quarter and never returned. He had rushed just once and only been targeted once before leaving. Pelissero believes Patterson has a "good shot" of playing in Week 16 against the Jacksonville Jaguars. Either way, David Montgomery will continue to dominate the backfield workload. He set career-highs with 32 carries and 146 rush yards on Sunday.
Montgomery has the fourth-most total opportunities among running backs since Week 8 and 35 percent of the Bears' total opportunities in that span. Meanwhile, Patterson is averaging just 5.8 opportunities over the past four games.
