Rams' Cam Akers (ankle) "making great progress" in recovery, still uncertain for Week 17
Los Angeles Rams running back Cam Akers is "making great progress" in the recovery from his sprained ankle.
That's what head coach Sean McVay told media on Wednesday. The rookie running back is trying to overcome a sprained ankle that he suffered in Week 15. With Darrell Henderson being placed on injured reserve, the team is severely shorthanded in the backfield. McVay said Akers' status for the regular season finale against the Arizona Cardinals is up in the air, but he added, "I wouldn't bet against this kid." Malcolm Brown would be the next man up for the starting running back role if Akers is sidelined.
Arizona currently ranks 20th in the NFL in adjusted net expected points allowed per run play.
