Panthers bringing in Quinton Coples for a physical

The Carolina Panthers are bringing in free agent defensive end Quinton Coples for a physical Tuesday.

What It Means:

If all goes well, he will likely join the defending NFC Champions. The 16th overall pick by the New York Jets in 2012, Coples flamed out in New York and did not make an impact in six games with the Miami Dolphins last season. He is still only 25, however, and should fit well in Carolina's 4-3 scheme. He is a good flier for the Panthers.

Carolina ranked second in the NFL last season in Adjusted Defensive Net Expected Points per play. With Jared Allen retiring, however, Coples provides good depth.
