Texans' rookie Nico Collins could see plenty of playing time
Houston Texans third-round rookie wide receiver Nico Collins "should have a chance to see a lot of snaps early," writes Aaron Reiss of The Athletic.
Reiss believes the lack of competition on the Texans' roster should allow Collins to see more opportunities than normal for a third-round pick. Texans head coach David Culley has expressed confidence in Collins while referring to him as a "prototype wide receiver" and a "big, strong, 50-50 catch guy." The Michigan product could conceivably emerge as the No. 2 option behind Brandin Cooks, albeit in what may be the worst passing offense in the league.
Collins is currently the WR82 in numberFire's preseason fantasy rankings. Our models expect him to draw the third-most targets (63.6) on the Texans behind Brandin Cooks (112.0) and Randall Cobb (74.7). Collins averaged 17.8 yards per reception in college and registered the following at his Pro Day: 89th percentile speed score, 77th percentile burst score, and 94th percentile catch radius.
