Colts reportedly expect Carson Wentz (foot) back 'in first part of season'
The Indianapolis Colts are expecting quarterback Carson Wentz (foot) to return "in the first part of the season," reports Jay Glazer of FOX Sports.
What It Means:
The Colts will know more about Wentz's return date in two weeks, but Glazer is reporting that they expect the recovery to be closer to the front end of the initial 5-12 week timeline. Jacob Eason has been taking first-team reps ahead of Sam Ehlinger at training camp.
Among the 44 quarterbacks with at least 100 drop backs last season, Wentz added the third-fewest Passing Net Expected Points per drop back. He averaged 17.8 FanDuel points per game, finishing 21st among quarterbacks. Wentz also earned a career-low 65.0 grade from Pro Football Focus that ranked 31st at his position.
