Raiders' Darren Waller's ankle injury 'not concerning'
Las Vegas Raiders tight end Darren Waller's ankle injury is "not concerning," according to Jeremy Fowler of ESPN.
Waller has been sidelined at training camp with the ankle issue since the beginning of the month. "He has nothing to prove, so the team is taking it slow," Fowler said. "If prepping for a regular-season game, Waller would probably be fine." The Raiders appear to simply be playing it safe with their star 28-year-old tight end and there isn't any concern about his status for Week 1. Waller's 147 total targets in 2020 were the fourth-most by any tight end since at least 2014, and the offseason departure of Nelson Agholor could lead to even more looks for Waller this season.
numberFire's models currently expect Waller to draw the 10th-most targets in the league this season (155.1) and record 109.9 catches for 1,200.6 yards and 7.57 touchdowns. Waller's 11.2 yards per touch last season were the seventh-most in the NFL.
