Bryan Edwards rested for Raiders' preseason opener

The Las Vegas Raiders rested several of their starters during their first preseason game, including 2020 third-round pick Bryan Edwards.

What It Means:

Edwards was a training camp darling in the leadup to the 2020 NFL season, but with no preseason games, we unfortunately did not get to see him take the field before the start of that season. The second-year receiver has been tearing up training camp again according to several Raiders beat reporters, enough so that the team held him out of Saturday's game along with several of their other starters on the offense. While his rookie season was derailed by injuries, Edwards could enjoy a breakout second season in the league on the Raiders' wide-open receiver depth chart.

Despite all of the preseason hype last year, Edwards only managed to catch 11 passes for 193 yards and 1 touchdown in his rookie season. While the efficiency per target was encouraging, he'll need to earn far more targets to become a fantasy-relevant receiver. We currently project him for 364.3 yards and 1 touchdown off 27.9 receptions this season.
