Seahawks remain committed to Chris Carson as lead back in 2021

The Seattle Seahawks will reportedly remain committed to Chris Carson as the team's top running back for the 2021 season.

What It Means:

Signed to a 2-year, $14 million contract extension in the offseason, Carson has operated as the Seahawks' primary running back in each of the past three seasons, toting the rock 666 times for 3,062 yards and 21 touchdowns and adding 716 yards and 6 scores off another 94 receptions. With a paper-thin depth chart of unproven talent behind him, Carson could dominate the Seahawks' backfield opportunities again this season.

Carson projects to finish the 2021 season with the 12th-most carries (278) at the running back position, but is only numberFire's RB19 for fantasy due to the Seahawks' slow play-calling and the strong possibility that the team will be playing from behind more often than not. Still, Carson is one of just a handful of running backs in the league with a dependable workload and can regularly be drafted in the third round or later of season-long fantasy drafts.
