Bills' Josh Allen working on dialing back his "hero ball" mentality

Buffalo Bills quarterback Josh Allen is working with quarterbacks coach Jordan Palmer to play less "hero ball" in 2021.

What It Means:

Allen told Peter King that he has been working with Palmer (brother of former NFL quarterback Carson Palmer) to "trust in the guys on the field with me, trust in the playcalls, and not try to do too much," noting that he developed the "hero ball" tendency in his rookie season on a less-stacked Bills roster at the time. He displayed clinical precision in 2020, boosting his accuracy in near-unparalleled fashion from a 56.3% rate in his first two seasons to an impressive 69.2% rate in 2020.

Between his rushing upside (6.8 rushes for 35.5 yards per game) and the Bills' analytics-driven, pass-happy approach to offense, Allen has a legitimate shot to finish as the QB1 in fantasy football this season. He's currently projected to finish as the QB2, behind only Patrick Mahomes.
