Elijah Mitchell "expected" to lead 49ers' backfield Sunday
San Francisco 49ers running back Elijah Mitchell "is expected to be the 49ers' lead back, with JaMycal Hasty and Sermon as the backups" per Adam Schefter.
Mitchell got the nod in Week 1 after teammate Raheem Mostert suffered a season-ending knee injury, in part due to the team's decision to make 2021 third-round draft pick Trey Sermon a healthy scratch for their opening game. Sermon will now likely join the 49ers' active roster for Week 2, but is expected to operate as Mitchell's backup alongside JaMycal Hasty.
Mitchell has a $5,800 salary on FanDuel for Week 2 as the 49ers take on the Philadelphia Eagles, and is projected to finish the week with 10.4 fantasy points against a strong Eagles defensive line.
