Bills' Tommy Sweeney has 'opportunity in front of him'

Buffalo Bills tight end Tommy Sweeney has "an opportunity in front of him," head coach Sean McDermott said.

What It Means:

Dawson Knox is expected to miss at least Week 8 with a broken hand and Sweeney is currently the only other tight end on the active roster. He could be a near every-down player for the Bills while Knox is out, beginning with Sunday's game against the Miami Dolphins. The 2019 seventh-round pick caught his first career touchdown pass following Knox’s departure from the Bills' last game.

Sweeney has run 22 routes on 29 passing snaps this season and been targeted four times. He is the TE17 in numberFire's Week 8 fantasy rankings and our models project Sweeney for 3.4 targets. The Dolphins are 24th in FanDuel points allowed per game to the tight end position this season.
