Sam Darnold starting for Panthers Week 17, Cam Newton benched
Carolina Panthers quarterback Sam Darnold will start Week 17 against the New Orleans Saints, per head coach Matt Rhule.
Darnold split work with starter Cam Newton last week in his first game back from injured reserve, but he will take back over as Carolina's QB1 for at least Week 17. Darnold is nothing to get excited about, but he's still better than Newton as a passer and an upgrade for the Panthers' receivers.
numberFire's models project Darnold for 14.3 FanDuel points in Week 17. The Saints are ranked 13th in FanDuel points allowed per game to the quarterback position this season.
