Browns put nose tackle Danny Shelton on weight plan
Cleveland Browns defensive tackle Danny Shelton, a 2015 first-round pick, has been put on a weight-reduction program by the Browns' new regime.
Shelton was the 12th overall pick in last year's draft but failed to make much of an impact across 15 starts. After nine quarterback takedowns his final college season, he didn't record a single sack or forced fumble and was only a one- or two-down player. The team lists Shelton at 6-foot-2, 339 pounds. They want him to cut weight so he can stay on the field longer as a potential three-down lineman.
The 2015 Browns ranked 21st in the league in Adjusted Defensive Passing Net Expected Points (NEP) and 32nd in Adjusted Defensive Rushing NEP.
