Lions exercise T.J. Hockenson 2023 option

The Detroit Lions exercised tight end T.J. Hockenson's fifth-year option for 2023.

What It Means:

Hockenson is now locked in with the Lions for the next two seasons. He averaged a season-low 9.6 yards per catch last year before missing the final five games due to injury. Hockenson and Amon-Ra St. Brown should see the majority of targets in Detroit's offense next year.

Among the 26 tight ends with 50-plus targets last season, Hock ranked 17th in Reception Net Expected Points per target. He averaged 1.34 FanDuel points per target, which was 15th at his position.
