Sammy Watkins to be 'big part' of Packers' offense

Green Bay Packers wide receiver Sammy Watkins is "going to be a big part of our offense," per head coach Matt LaFleur.

What It Means:

Matt Schneidman of The Athletic said in April that Watkins wasn't a lock to make the final roster, so always remember to take everything with a grain of salt at this time of year. That being said, the offseason departures of Davante Adams and Marquez Valdes-Scantling frees up 224 targets in the Packers' offense, so Watkins should have plenty of opportunities to prove his worth between now and Week 1. The former first-round pick turns 29 in less than two weeks.

Watkins is currently the WR84 in numberFire's preseason rankings and our models project him for 55.5 targets, 33.6 receptions, 411.8 yards, and 3.12 touchdowns.
