San Francisco exercises Eric Reid's fifth-year option
San Francisco 49ers safety Eric Reid had his fifth-year option picked up by the 49ers.
Reid struggled at times last year, but he is a talented young safety the 49ers would like to keep around for a long time. It would not be surprising if the two sides worked out an extension before this season. The option will pay $5.676 million in 2017.
San Francisco ranked 27th in Adjusted Defensive Net Expected Points per play in 2015. Reid finished the year with 77 tackles, seven passes defended, one sack and one forced fumble.
