Giants 'hopeful' Saquon Barkley's neck injury improves ahead of Week 15
New York Giants head coach Brian Daboll said Monday that the team is "hopeful" that running back Saquon Barkley (neck) is making a quick recovery ahead of the team's Week 15 game against the Washington Commanders.
Barkley was a late addition to the Giants' Week 14 injury reports with a neck injury, and did seem quite close to missing the game entirely. While he was able to suit up against the Eagles, he was essentially held out for much of the game as the Giants suffered their blowout loss. On the bright side, Barkley did not appear to aggravate his injury in the game, and the team seems optimistic about his ability to play at full health in Week 15.
The Giants seemed to be taking it easy on Barkley even before the game got out of hand, with both Matt Breida and Gary Barnwell mixing in for touches in the early parts of the game. If Barkley's health does improve by next weekend, expect the star back to return to his usual, dominant share of the running back opportunities against Washington.
