Gavin Escobar improved blocking, could have bigger role for Cowboys
Gavin Escobar has improved his blocking in the offseason and could be a candidate for a bigger role in the Dallas offense in 2015.
Jason Witten is still the guy -- make no mistake -- but if he were to slow down, then the tight end battle between Escobar and James Hanna could be crucial.
Last season, Escobar caught just nine passes, and Hanna caught four. However, Escobar's Reception Net Expected Points, the points above expectation-level he added with his receptions, was 17.52. Hanna's as 2.39. Escobar's Reception NEP per target of 1.35 was tops among all tight ends with at least 10 targets, but that's an unsustainable number.
