Thomas Duarte and Jake Stoneburner competing for one spot on Dolphins' roster

Miami Dolphins seventh-round rookie tight end Thomas Duarte is competing with Jake Stoneburner for the Dolphins' final tight end roster spot.

What It Means:

Duarte is shifting to tight end after playing wide receiver in college, and is still adjusting to the speed of the game. "It's a different speed at this level," said Duarte. "It’s a little shocking, but you get used to it." Duarte got a late start this offseason while finishing up classes at UCLA. He will also need to hone his blocking skills if he wants to make the Dolphins' 53-man roster, and this is an area that Stoneburner excels at.

Our algorithms project Stoneburner to catch five passes for 56 yards and 0.70 touchdowns this season. Duarte has no projection right now, so it's clear that he's the longshot, though neither will be imminently fantasy-relevant outside of deep Dynasty formats.
