Lions sign defensive lineman Quanterus Smith
The Detroit Lions signed defensive end Quanterus Smith.
Smith turns 27 in November, and was a 2013 fifth-round pick by the Denver Broncos. The Western Kentucky product opened eyes when he terrorized the Alabama offense for several sacks in 2012. The Broncos tried changing his tweener physique numerous times, fitting him from a 4-3 end, to a 3-4 outside linebacker, then to a 3-4 end, but that only served to slow his development.
The Lions ranked 25th in the league in Adjusted Passing Defensive Net Expected Points (NEP) per play and 22nd in the league in Adjusted Defensive Rushing NEP per play in 2015.
