Browns' Desmond Bryant hopeful he can return in 2016

Cleveland Browns defensive end Desmond Bryant (torn pec) is "hopeful" he can return this season.

What It Means:

The Browns have essentially ruled him out for the season, but Bryant is holding out hope that the can contribute. "The timetable for rehab is 4-6 months, so it's possible," Bryant said. "I'll do everything I can to get back as soon as I can." Xavier Cooper is expected to take over for Bryant in the starting lineup with rookie Carl Nassib in the mix as well.

Prior to his injury news, our algorithms had projected Bryant for 70.91 tackles and 7.85 sacks in 2016. Nominal starter Xavier Cooper will now take on most of that projection, but lose some time to Nassib. The Browns' 0.05 Adjusted Defensive Rushing Net Expected Points per play in 2015 ranked 28th in the league.
