Steelers sign Vince Williams to three-year extension
The Pittsburgh Steelers signed inside linebacker Vince Williams to a three-year extension through 2019.
Williams played just 194 snaps on defense last season, but he's a key reserve player and contributes on special teams. He's a downhill run stopper, but is also comfortable dropping back into coverage. The Steelers could be grooming him as a future starter next to Ryan Shazier with veteran Lawrence Timmons near the end of his career. Williams turns 27 in December.
The Steelers ranked ninth in the league in Adjusted Defensive Net Expected Points per play last season.
