Dexter McCluster

Chargers add Dexter McCluster

The San Diego Chargers signed running back Dexter McCluster.

What It Means:

McCluster was released by the Tennessee Titans at final cuts, but he and Chargers offensive coordinator Ken Whisenhunt have plenty of history from their time together in Tennessee. San Diego wants to feature two backs in their offense and McCluster can be a pretty decent Danny Woodhead (torn ACL) replacement. Assuming he secures a role, McCluster could provide immediate PPR value. Melvin Gordon may not become the bellcow back that many envisioned after Woodhead went down.

McCluster's -0.15 Rushing Net Expected Points (NEP) per attempt ranked 62nd among the 72 running backs with at least 50 rushes last year. His 0.29 Reception NEP per target ranked 41st among these players.
