Former Panther Bene Benwikere plucked off waivers by Dolphins
The Miami Dolphins claimed cornerback Bene Benwikere off waivers from the Carolina Panthers.
Benwikere was surprisingly cut by the Panthers following Julio Jones' 300-yard eruption in Week 4, but he has proven to be an adept slot corner in the past. Carolina asked him to play outside the hashes, which wound up being beyond Benwikere's capabilities. It's a shrewd move for a team that tends to do the opposite, and Miami's secondary definitely needs all the help it can get.
The Dolphins' secondary proved to be a perfect elixir for a previously struggling Marcus Mariota in Week 5, as he completed 20-of-29 passes for 163 yards, three touchdowns and a crisp 1.87 Net Expected Points.
