Rams likely franchising Trumaine Johnson
The Los Angeles Rams will likely use the franchise tag on free agent defensive back Trumaine Johnson, per ESPN's Adam Schefter.
The Rams were considering letting Johnson hit the open market, but have decided they're better off holding onto their number-one corner. He regressed a bit last season, but new defensive coordinator Wade Phillips should help the 27-year-old Johnson get back on track.
The Rams ranked 18th in opponent-adjusted Defensive Passing Net Expected Points per play in 2016.
