Jabaal Sheard joins Colts to bolster pass rush

The Indianapolis Colts signed defensive lineman Jabaal Sheard, formerly of the New England Patriots, to a three-year, $25.5 million contract with $12.75 guaranteed.

What It Means:

Sheard was the best edge player left on the market and he projects to start opposite John Simons in the Colts' 3-4 scheme. He turns 28 in May and has recorded 13 sacks over the past two seasons.

The Colts finished fourth-worst in the NFL last season in schedule-adjusted Defensive Net Expected Points allowed per play.
