Bradley McDougald could shift to nickel corner for Seahawks

Seattle Seahawks safety Bradley McDougald could be employed as a nickel corner this year.

What It Means:

The Seahawks ran what amounted to a 4-2-5 for most of last season, employing two linebackers and five defensive backs. That's not a particularly unusual alignment as many teams are placing greater importance on nickel formations. The role of slot corner was occupied by Jeremy Lane last season but Lane will be moving outside. McDougald is a safety by trade so it's not a given that he'll be able to make that transition.

McDougald contributed to a Tampa Bay Buccaneers defense that posted the seventh-best Adjusted Defensive Passing NEP per play last year.
