49ers' Arik Armstead underwent offseason shoulder surgery
San Francisco 49ers defensive lineman Arik Armstead underwent offseason shoulder surgery to repair a torn labrum.
The 17th overall pick of the 2015 draft, Armstead said he's fully recovered now and has been bouncing all over the 49ers' defensive line in their new 4-3 front. He's also been getting reps at the stand-up "Leo" spot as a pass rusher off the edge. Listed at 6'7", 292 pounds, the 49ers will likely want him playing lighter in 2017.
The 49ers were fifth-worst in schedule-adjusted Defensive Net Expected Points allowed per play this past season.
