Eagles won't rush Sidney Jones (Achilles') to field

The Philadelphia Eagles plan to "take it slow" with rookie cornerback Sidney Jones (Achilles).

What It Means:

Early reports gave Jones a four-to-six month timetable, but that's on the optimistic side. The Eagles have no plans to rush Jones after investing a top-50 pick into him. Jones is going to miss all of training camp and could open the year on reserve/NFI. It won't be surprising if Jones redshirts as a rookie.

Fortunately for the Eagles, they may not need him right away; Philly defense finished fifth in the NFL last season in opponent-adjusted Defensive Net Expected Points allowed per play.
