Lions pass on Matt Asiata after weekend tryout
The Detroit Lions did not sign free agent running back Matt Asiata after his weekend tryout.
Although head coach Jim Caldwell has never been known for his truthfulness with the media, he indicated the Lions are satisfied with their current backfield stable. "We have a pretty good group of guys," Caldwell said. "We’ll see what happens, but I think overall, we’ve got some pretty good depth there."
Among the 42 running backs to carry the ball at least 100 times in 2016, Asiata's -0.15 Rushing Net Expected Points per carry were third-least.
