Osi Umenyiora to retire as New York Giant on Wednesday
Defensive end Osi Umenyiora will retire as a member of the New York Giants Wednesday, according to Ian Rapoport of the NFL Network.
Umenyiora, 33, had played the past two seasons with the Atlanta Falcons. His previous nine years came with the Giants, including two Pro-Bowl and one All-Pro seasons.
The dropoff was clear with Umenyiora last season as he posted only 2 1/2 sacks in 16 games. For his career, though, Umenyiora notched 85 sacks, 75 of which came with the Giants. With Umenyiora in 2010, the Giants finished third in the league in our schedule-adjusted Defensive Passing Net Expected Points per play.
