Luke Kuechly exits with apparent head injury
Carolina Panthers middle linebacker Luke Kuechly exited Week 1 against the Jacksonville Jaguars with a possible head injury.
After tackling Jaguars' running back T.J. Yeldon late in the second quarter, Kuechly was visibly shaken up. He went straight to the locker room and will be evaluated for a concussion.
This potential injury may push weak-side linebacker Thomas Davis to the middle for the rest of the game, and give first-round rookie Shaq Thompson a chance to play on the weak-side. If Kuechly misses extended time, this may be the Panthers' base corps, but they may have a rotation also. Carolina ranked 19th in schedule-adjusted Defensive Rushing Net Expected Points in 2014, and that rank will decrease if defensive captain Kuechly is out.
