Lions' DeAndre Levy and Haloti Ngata uncertain for Week 2 action
Detroit Lions' linebacker DeAndre Levy (hip) was listed as doubtful on the team's Week 2 Friday injury report.
It's not good news for Levy, who has been sitting for well over a month with an undisclosed hip injury with no timeline for return. Speculation has been swirling about other ailments, but head coach Jim Caldwell refused to comment on rumors. Defensive linemen Haloti Ngata and Caraun Reid were listed as questionable for this game.
The Lions' dominant defense from last year fell apart last week without the steadying presence of Levy, who is very good in both pass coverage and run-stopping. On a per-play basis, the Lions' defense in Week 1 was 23rd in schedulae-adjusted Defensive Net Expected Points. They need their dominant players to return if they even want to approximate last year's fourth-place finish in the metric.
