Cowboys reached out to Kyle Orton
The Dallas Cowboys have reached out to free agent quarterback Kyle Orton, but Orton said that he's "still finished with football," according to Ian Rapoport of NFL Network.
With Tony Romo suffering a broken collarbone Sunday, the Cowboys appear to be in search of a compliment to potential fill-in Brandon Weeden. Orton retired after 12 starts with the Buffalo Bills in 2014 and had previously played for Dallas in 2012 and 2013.
The Cowboys finished second in our schedule-adjusted Passing Net Expected Points (NEP) per play last year, but losing Romo and wide receiver Dez Bryant nullifies nearly all of the good. Weeden had 0.55 Passing NEP in relief on Sunday, but the long-term fantasy prospects of each asset on offense takes a hit with Romo out.
