Patriots looking to extend Malcolm Butler
The New England Patriots reportedly want to extend the contract of cornerback Malcolm Butler.
The Patriots shopped Butler this offseason, but it appears that both sides would like him to stay in New England. It might be difficult for them to allocate too much money to Butler given Stephon Gilmore's big contract.
With 28 tackles, 7 passes defensed and 2 interceptions through 7 games, Butler is projected for 18.3 tackles, 4.2 passes defensed and 1.9 interceptions the rest of the year. He grades out as Pro Football Focus' 22nd-ranked corner so far in 2017.
